For School-Aged Children:
Our farm education staff can help translate classroom lesson plans to hands-on, farm-based learning opportunities. Bring your class or group to learn about the many lessons the farm can teach us!
More about the Farm Visit:
For most children this farm visit is a first-time learning experience where they can pick a vegetable from the soil, touch a warm egg in the chicken coop, find out what cows give them, and begin to understand the importance of the farm in their daily lives. All farm visits include a full tour of our working farm, a hands-on learning opportunity such as vegetable harvesting and taste testing, a farm-based learning activity such as “Dress Up a Cow” or “Starting from Scratch”, all the while we'll learn and connect on- farm experiences back to the lessons your group is learning in the classroom. The visit typically lasts about an hour and a half. Your group may bring a picnic snack or lunch.
What is the Field Trip Fee?
$6.00 per student. No charge for chaperons, teachers and children under age 2. If this cost is prohibitive for your class or an individual, please call to make arrangements. We do not want to prevent any student from attending due to the fee.
For High School and College Students:
Farm visits for high school and college students are free of charge, and include a farm tour and work project where students will work alongside the farm crew. Please let us know what your group is learning in the classroom so that we may link the topic to the farm visit.
